IAM1469 - The Struggle of Focusing
Sunday Aug 21, 2022
Sunday Aug 21, 2022
I had an awesome opportunity at the end of the year to be a guest on The Breaking Down Your Business Podcast with Brad Farris & Jill Salzman. Jill contributed on CEO Blog Nation to one of the roundups and was a recent guest on the I AM CEO Podcast and has created an awesome community for entrepreneurial moms. I had the chance to jump on the hot seat on the “most entertaining podcast in the world.” It was loads of fun where I spoke about a business issue specifically the struggle with focusing for creatives.
My takeaways
- #toomanywhiteboards
- It's okay not to have a streamlined focus and it can be part of the process.
- Tap into my innate creativity to provide solutions for clients and instead of creating it internally but do more consulting.
- Find 3-5 things to focus on.

This was an awesome chat with Suzie Mills of Honest Soul Yoga located in Alexandria, Virginia. Suzie is a Healthy CEO which I loved to speak with because she’s isn’t your traditional yogi and she has brought a fresh perspective to the health industry. We spoke about her background, her unique approach to yoga, and advice that she has for entrepreneurs and business owners in the area including hiring up, innovating, and reengineering things.
Suzie (Owner of Honest Soul Yoga) came to yoga to find grounding, personal empowerment, and physical restoration after her time serving in the US military. She quickly decided that the benefits she felt from her practice must be shared and studio ownership would be her path. What started as a small meet-up in her basement, Suzie’s studio has since grown to a full-scale, multi-faceted yoga center comprised of a robust schedule of daily classes, a highly sought-after training facility for new and experienced teachers, and a family-oriented lifestyle center. Students who attend classes, workshops, and training with Suzie receive the recipe for her secret sauce of compassionate self-inquiry and leave feeling both inspired to manifest their own big dreams, as well as equipped with the tools to take the very next step. In addition to running an ever-expanding yoga center, Suzie is a wife, mom to two kiddos under two and lifelong resident of the DC metro area.

IAM1461 - Owners of Yoga Studio Offer an Escape from The Frantic DC Lifestyle

Co-Owner and Director of Teacher Training, Kathryn Taron was a Division I long-distance runner who found yoga while on a quest to heal an injury. After completely recovering from the injury, she continued to cultivate her practice on the North Shore of Oahu and around the world. She understands the struggle to balance competitive drive with respect for the body’s limits. She teaches yoga to empower others to engage in self-healing. During her classes, Kathryn focuses heavily on proper alignment and mindfully linking movements with breath.
Co-Owner, Lindsey Canaley discovered yoga 15 years ago via a VHS workout tape as a teenager in her native Los Angeles. After a personal practice for many years, she got the courage to step foot in a real yoga studio in DC in 2011 and fell in love all over again. She believes in a playful practice and tries not to take herself too seriously. At classes with Lindsey, you can expect high energy, creative flows with a little restorative yoga thrown in for a well-rounded sweat session on the mat. For her personal practice, she loves vinyasa, power, yin, and restorative yoga equally. Lindsey is a RYT-200 and completed her studies at Tranquil Space and her prenatal training at Mind the Mat. When not in the studio, she's probably snuggling her one-year-old daughter or one of her three kitties.
